Siouxland Ethanol at a Glance

Thanks for your interest in Siouxland Ethanol. Located near Jackson, Nebraska, our plant promotes rural economic development and contributes to America’s energy independence.

Now producing 90 million gallons of ethanol each year, Siouxland Ethanol became operational in May 2007. The plant consumes 30 million bushels of corn each year to produce a clean-burning, high-octane gasoline additive. This corn is purchased from our local farmers and elevators and the dollars turn over in our local communities.

Currently, nearly 100% of our ethanol is shipped to California, although some of our ethanol is delivered to the local Jackson Express convenience store, which offers a number of ethanol blender pumps.

The local area benefits in other ways from Siouxland Ethanol. Nearly 40 people are employed at Siouxland Ethanol, which has an annual payroll of approximately $2 million. These employees receive above-average wages and enjoy good working conditions in a modern plant that’s computerized and automated every step of the way. Spin-off businesses that have resulted from Siouxland Ethanol, such as local trucking businesses and a convenience store in Jackson, generate economic development in the town of Jackson and Dakota County.

Distillers grains are a co-product of the ethanol production process at Siouxland Ethanol. This high-value livestock feed has become widely accepted among livestock producers. Siouxland Ethanol produces 210,000 tons of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) each year. Much of this is sold locally to cattle feeders, as well as poultry feeders. Siouxland Ethanol also produces 14,000 tons of corn oil each year.
